Removal and Installation

Removal

All Vehicles
  1. Standard preparatory measures.
    • Lay protective covers over the fenders.
Vehicles equipped with air conditioning only.
  1. Drain the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
All vehicles.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not empty the coolant expansion tank.
    Detach the coolant expansion tank and lay it to one side.
  1. Detach the wiper arms.
  1. Remove the cowl grille.
    • Disconnect the hose from the windscreen washer jet.

  1. Undo the bulkhead extension.
    • Remove eight bolts.
    • Pull the bulkhead extension forwards.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Plug the heater radiator and the heater hoses.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not mix the hoses up when fitting them (mark them if necessary).
    Disconnect the heater hoses using Special Tool 24-003.
Vehicles equipped with air conditioning only.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Plug the evaporator and the refrigerant lines.
    Disconnect the refrigerant lines.
All vehicles.

  1. Remove the heater housing cover plate.

  1. Remove the evaporator/heat exchanger (push-fit).
    1. Evaporator (vehicles with air conditioning only)
    1. Heater radiator.

Installation

All Vehicles
  1. Refit the components in the reverse order.
    • Remove the protective covers.
    • Check the coolant level and correct as necessary.
  1. Check the operation of the heater.
Vehicles equipped with air conditioning only.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Renew the O-rings and coat with refrigerant oil.
    Evacuate and fill the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
  1. Check the operation of the air conditioning system.
