Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair
Air Cleaner Assembly
REMOVAL
1.
Loosen air cleaner outlet tube clamp at throttle body and disconnect tube.
2.
Disconnect electrical connections at mass airflow sensor jumper wire and air charge temperature sensor.
3.
Remove air cleaner retaining screws and remove air cleaner assembly.
4.
Inspect inside surfaces of cover for traces of dirt leakage past element as a result of damaged element seals, wrong element, inadequate torque on
cover retaining clips.
5.
Remove air cleaner element and clean sealing surfaces on tray and cover.
INSTALLATION
1.
Position air cleaner assembly to engine compartment side panel. Ensure that mounting grommet is installed with metal side up and battery tray
grommet is fully seated in battery tray. Check air cleaner cover hinge assembly. Secure retaining clips.
2.
Ensure the air cleaner assembly mounting tab is engaged with the battery tray grommet boss.
3.
Install screw through rubber grommet (metal side up) into J-clip in battery tray.
4.
Connect electrical connections at mass airflow sensor jumper wire and air charge temperature sensor.
5.
Connect air cleaner outlet tube and tighten clamp to 36 lb in (4 Nm).
