Powertrain Control Modules (PCM) designed for use in a vehicle equipped with an AX4N transaxle or an AX4S transaxle are not interchangeable.
ACTION:
Read the following statements and refer to the Application Chart for the proper application.
^
If a PCM designed for use in a vehicle equipped with an AX4N transaxle is installed in a vehicle with an AX4S transaxle, TRANSAXLE DAMAGE
WILL OCCUR.
^
If a PCM for a vehicle equipped with an AX4S transaxle is installed into a vehicle equipped with an AX4N transaxle, ERRATIC OPERATION
WILL OCCUR.
^
The shift solenoid sequencing between the two (2) transaxles (AX4N or AX4S) are different and requires a different PCM for each application.
^
If PCM replacement is required, determine which transaxle (AX4N or AX4S) is installed in the vehicle being serviced.
^
Locate the vehicle certification tag located on the driver's side door pillar.
^
The letter "T" or "L" designates an AX4S transaxle. Refer to Figure 1.

The letter "X" designates an AX4N transaxle. Refer to Figure 1.
