Starting System - Starter Motor—Vehicles Built Up To: 08/2006 1.8L Duratorq-TDCi (Lynx) Diesel/1.8L Duratorq-TDDi (Lynx) Diesel Transit/Tourneo Connect 2002.5 (06/2002-)
Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

3. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removal Details

Item 1 : Ignition switch and battery to starter motor solenoid cable electrical connector
  1. Disconnect and detach the ignition switch and battery to starter motor solenoid cable electrical connector:
    1. Detach the ignition switch and battery to starter motor cable retaining clip.
    1. Remove the ignition switch to starter motor solenoid cable electrical connector retaining nut.
    1. Remove the battery to starter motor solenoid cable electrical connector retaining nut.
