PCM
The 1.8L Duratorq TDCi installed in the 2002.5 onward Transit Connect is now only regulated by one PCM.
In this PCM the functions of the PCM and the functions of the Injector Driver Module (IDM) are combined. This is referred to as the so-called "One-Box-System".
The strategies for engine management and for actuation of the injectors are very similar to those found on the system with a PCM and an IDM (the so-called "Two-Box-System"), which is already used on the 2001.5 Focus with a 1.8L Duratorq TDCi engine.
The PCM controls:
- Injected fuel quantity and injection timing for the pilot injection and the main injection
- EGR system,
- Position of the fuel metering solenoid
- System pressure in the high-pressure fuel system
- Glow control
- Radiator fan
- 'Smart charge' alternator control system
The PCM can be diagnosed through the DLC using WDS.
