13-006Ball joint separator
Remove
1. Raise the vehicle.
   Remove the road wheel.
End – Track Rod – Replace (13 273 0)
2. Disconnect the track rod end.
1. Slacken the track rod end lock nut.
2. Remove the split pin and castellated nut securing the track rod end ball joint to the stub axle.
• Discard the split pin.

NOTE:

Make a note of the number of turns required to remove the ball joint.
3. Disconnect the ball joint from the stub axle.
• Remove the ball joint.
• Remove the lock nut.

CAUTION:

If necessary clean the track rods before removing the bellow.
4. Remove the bellows retaining clips and slide the bellows off the track rod.
Install
5. Fit new bellows and secure with new inner and outer clips.
End – Track Rod – Replace (13 273 0)

NOTE:

Ensure ball joint is screwed on the same number of turns as was used to remove it.
6. Refit the locknut and ball joint.

7. Refit the ball joint stud to the stub axle and secure with the castellated nut and a new split pin.
8. Install the wheel, refer to specifications for wheel nut torques.
9. Lower the vehicle and settle the suspension.
10. Check the front wheel alignment as described in Operation Nos. 14 111 0 and 14 111 3.
