Remove

WARNING:

On vehicles fitted with air bags wait at least 15 minutes after disconnecting the battery before proceeding to avoid the possibility of accidentally detonating the air bag.
1. Disconnect the battery earth lead.

2. Remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds.
3. Remove the multifunction switches as described in Operation No. 33 522 0.

4. Centralise the steering wheel and lock in the straight ahead position.

5. Remove the clamp plate bolt securing the steering column shaft to the flexible coupling.
   Rotate the clamp plate to disengage.

6. Remove the four nuts securing the lower steering column studs to the bulkhead.

7. Disconnect the ignition switch multiplug.
   Cut the loom cable tie.

8. Remove the steering column.
Install
9. Refit the steering column.
   Ensure that the lower steering column studs locate correctly.

10. Secure the lower steering column studs to the bulkhead.
11. Reconnect the ignition switch multiplug.
12. Refit the multifunction switches as described in Operation No. 33 522 0.
13. Secure the loom with a cable tie.

CAUTION:

Ensure that the steering is in the straight ahead position.
14. Align the flexible coupling clamp plate over the steering column shaft and secure with a new pinch bolt.
15. Refit the upper and lower steering column shrouds.
16. Reconnect the battery earth lead.
