Removal and Installation
Remove

WARNING:

When an air bag is fitted wait at least 15 minutes after disconnecting the battery before proceeding to avoid the possibility of accidentally firing the air bag.

1. Disconnect the battery earth lead.
2. Where fitted, remove the air bag module as described in Operation No. 40 700 0.

3. Remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds (three screws).

4. Detach and disconnect the clockspring multiplug.

5. Centralise the steering wheel and lock in position.
6. If an air bag is not fitted, remove the steering wheel centre cap.

7. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut and remove the steering wheel.
Install

WARNING:

Always centralise the clockspring before refitting the steering wheel (refer to Operation Number 33 392 0).

8. Locate the steering wheel ensuring that the clockspring locates correctly.

9. Refit the components in reverse order.
