1. Drain the cooling system (refer to Operation Number 24 122 0).
2. Remove the upper fan shroud.
NOTE:
The fan clutch has a right‐hand thread. It will be necessary to hold the fan pulley to remove the clutch assembly, use a strap wrench to prevent the pulley rotating.
3. Remove the clutch and fan assembly.
Vehicles with air conditioning and/or power steering
NOTE:
Reset the power steering pump/adjuster to the fully tensioned position after removal of the drive belt. This allows removal of the upper camshaft drive belt cover.
4. Remove the drive belt(s).
1. Slacken the tensioner.
2. Rotate the adjuster body.
3. Remove the drive belt.
All vehicles
5. Remove the alternator drive belt.
Loosen the bolts as indicated.
6. Remove the water pump pulley.
7. Remove the viscous fan pulley.
8. Remove the lower camshaft drive belt cover.
9. Remove the upper camshaft drive belt cover.
Hinge the bottom section of the cover under the crankshaft pulley.
10. Remove the water pump.
Install
NOTE:
Clean the mating faces of the water pump and engine block.
NOTE:
Always use a new water pump gasket.
11. Refit the components in the reverse order.
12. Install a new drive belt.
Dimension A = 4mm.
13. Refill the cooling system to the MAX mark (refer to Operation Number 24 122 0).
