Removal and Installation

Remove

1. Disconnect the downpipe/catalytic converter assembly from the manifold/turbocharger.
   Remove three or four nuts dependent upon variant.
2. Raise the vehicle.

3. Disconnect the downpipe/catalytic converter assembly from the muffler assembly.
   Discard the gasket and the flange nuts.

4. Remove the support bracket.

NOTE:

If the downpipe/catalytic converter assembly is to be refitted, care must be taken not to damage the assembly.

   Excessive force may damage the internal ceramic substrates.
5. Remove the downpipe/catalytic converter assembly.
   Detach downpipe/catalytic converter assembly from the rubber insulator(s).
Install

CAUTION:

Never use jointing compound forward of the catalytic converter.

6. Position the downpipe/catalytic converter assembly and loosely refit the support bracket.
   Check the rubber insulator for damage or fatigue, renew as necessary.

7. Loosely connect the downpipe/catalytic converter to the muffler assembly.
8. Lower the vehicle.

9. Fit the downpipe/catalytic converter to manifold nuts.
    Refit using new flange nuts and gaskets, coat all studs with anti‐seize grease.
10. Raise the vehicle.

11. Fully tighten the flange nuts.
12. Tighten the support bracket nuts.
