Removal and Installation Removal All vehicles | -
NOTE:Make sure the road wheels are in the straight ahead position. Centralize the steering and lock it in position. | Vehicles with driver air bag Vehicles without driver air bag All vehicles | -
Detach the steering column lower bearing from the bulk head. | | -
Remove the steering column flexible coupling upper pinch bolt. | | -
Remove the steering column upper shroud. - Using a thin bladed screwdriver, release the two clips (one each side).
- Remove the shroud.

Remove the steering column lower shroud. | Vehicles with driver air bag | -
Disconnect the air bag sliding contact electrical connectors. - Using a thin bladed screwdriver, release the locking tangs.
| All vehicles | -
Disconnect the passive anti-theft system (PATS) transceiver, windshield wiper/washer switch and horn switch electrical connectors. | | -
Disconnect the ignition switch and turn signal switch electrical connectors. | | -
Detach the data link connector (DLC) from the steering column. | | -
Remove the steering column. - Discard the retaining nuts.

To install, reverse the removal procedure. | |
