Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Disconnect Tool, Spring Lock Coupling 1/2 inch (blue)

412-027 (34-001)

Remover/Installer, Fixed Orifice

412-034 (34-004)

Remover, Broken Orifice

412-035 (34-005)

Removal

  1. Drain the air conditioning (A/C) system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the refrigerant lines and the evaporator core to prevent dirt ingress.
    Using the special tool, disconnect the refrigerant line from the evaporator core.

  1. Detach the vacuum hose retaining clip from the refrigerant line.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the refrigerant line to prevent dirt ingress.
    Remove the refrigerant line.
    • Discard the O - ring seals.

  1. Using the special tool, remove the evaporator core orifice.
    • Hook the special tool into the evaporator core orifice, turn it clockwise and pull out the evaporator core orifice.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:This step is only necessary if the evaporator core orifice is broken.
    Using the special tools, remove the broken evaporator core orifice.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new refrigerant line O-ring seals.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Lubricate the refrigerant line O-Ring seals with clean refrigerant oil before installation.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
