Refrigeration - Stationary Refrigeration Motor Transit 2000.5 (01/2000-05/2006)
Removal and Installation

Removal

WARNING:
WARNING:Repair work to the 230-volt system may only be carried out by trained personnel. Failure to observe this instruction can lead to injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:The stationary refrigeration system must not be connected to the 230-volt circuit during repair work. Failure to observe this instruction can lead to injury.
  1. Evacuate the refrigeration system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
  1. Remove the front bench seat. For additional information, refer to Section  501-10 Seating.

  1. Remove the cover for the stationary refrigeration compressor belt.

  1. Disconnect the clutch connector.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Seal off the refrigerant lines and the stationary refrigeration compressor to prevent dirt ingress.
    Detach the refrigerant lines from the stationary refrigeration compressor.
    • Discard the O-rings.

  1. Remove the connector box cover for the stationary refrigeration motor.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make a note of the connection position of the connecting cables to aid installation.
    Detach the connecting cables for the stationary refrigeration motor from the stationary refrigeration motor.
    • Pull the motor wiring harness out of the connector box.

  1. Remove the retainer frame together with the stationary refrigeration compressor and the stationary refrigeration motor.

  1. Release the nuts for the stationary refrigeration compressor.

  1. Slacken the stationary refrigeration compressor belt.
    • Turn the drive belt tensioning nut counter clockwise.

  1. Remove the stationary refrigeration compressor belt.

  1. Remove the stationary refrigeration motor.

  1. Remove the stationary refrigeration compressor belt pulley.
    1. Loosen the retaining bolt.
    1. Pull the belt pulley off the shaft.

Installation

WARNING:
WARNING:Repair work to the 230-volt system may only be carried out by trained personnel. Failure to observe this instruction can lead to injury.

WARNING:The stationary refrigeration system must not be connected to the 230-volt circuit during repair work. Failure to observe this instruction can lead to injury.

  1. Install the stationary refrigeration compressor belt pulley.
    1. Push the belt pulley onto the shaft and align roughly.
    1. Install the retaining bolt finger tight.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The position of the motor is marked relative to the retainer frame. Ensure that the motor is installed in the original position.
    Install the stationary refrigeration motor.

  1. Install the stationary refrigeration compressor belt.
    • Slightly tension the drive belt.

  1. Align the belt pulley for the stationary refrigeration motor.
    1. Position the pulley correctly.
    1. Tighten the retaining bolt.

  1. Tension the stationary refrigeration compressor belt.
    • Tighten the drive belt tensioning bolt.

  1. Tighten the nuts for the stationary refrigeration compressor.

  1. Install the retainer frame together with the stationary refrigeration compressor and the stationary refrigeration motor.

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Connect the connecting cables at the noted connection position. Failure to observe this instruction can lead to injury.
    Connect the connecting cable for the stationary refrigeration motor to the stationary refrigeration motor.
    • Insert the motor wiring harness into the connector box.

  1. Install the connector box cover for the stationary refrigeration motor.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new refrigerant line O-rings.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Coat the O-rings for the refrigerant lines with clean refrigerant oil prior to installation.
    Connect the refrigerant lines to the stationary refrigeration compressor.

  1. Connect the clutch connector.

  1. Install the cover for the stationary refrigeration compressor belt.
  1. Install the front bench seat. For additional information, refer to Section  501-10 Seating.
  1. Evacuate and fill the refrigeration system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
