1985-86
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, raise and support vehicle, and drain oil pan.
2.
Remove strut rods.
3.
Disconnect exhaust pipe at converter bracket and manifold and secure aside.
4.
Remove torque converter or flywheel dust cover.
5.
Disconnect starter brace from engine block and remove starter motor.
6.
Disconnect transmission cooler lines, if equipped, and plug lines and open fittings.
7.
Remove oil pan bolts and the oil pan.
8.
Thoroughly clean oil pan and block mating surfaces, ensuring that sealer is removed from pan bolt holes.
9.
Apply a continuous bead of RTV sealer, 3/16 inch wide, to entire pan sealing surface on 1985 models, or sealant as indicated in Fig. 10 on 1986
models.
10.
Install oil pan, torque retaining bolts to 75 inch lbs. on 1985 models, or 90 inch on 1986 models, and reverse remaining procedure to complete
installation.
