Refer to Figs. 1 and 2.when overhauling master cylinders.

Remove rod seal, then push in secondary piston assembly and remove snap ring being careful not to damage master cylinder bore.

Remove stop bolt while pushing in secondary piston assembly.
5.
Remove piston guide, secondary piston assembly and primary piston assembly. If primary piston assembly is difficult to remove, apply low
pressure compressed air to the primary piston side outlet while placing a shop rag over master cylinder to prevent primary piston from becoming a
projectile.
6.
Remove screw from secondary piston assembly, then secondary spring.
7.
Clean all parts with brake fluid.
ASSEMBLY
1.
Lubricate new piston assemblies with brake fluid, then fit them together.
2.
Install piston assemblies in master cylinder. To ease assembly, rotate pistons while inserting.
3.
Install stop bolt and new sealing washer while pushing in secondary piston assembly, then torque stop bolt to 6.5 ft. lbs.
4.
Install snap ring while pushing in secondary piston assembly, then new rod seal.
5.
Install master cylinder in vehicle.
