Constant Velocity Joint: Service and Repair

DISASSEMBLE 

1. Remove the set ring from the inboard joint.

2. Carefully clamp the driveshaft in a vise with soft jaws. To remove the boot band, pry up the locking tabs with a screwdriver and raise the end of

the band. Take care not to damage the boot. 

NOTE:  

-

If the boot band is the welded type, carefully cut it off with a pair of diagonal cutters.

If the boot band is a double loop type, raise the band bend as shown.
