Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

NOTE Contact with a rust penetrant such as WD-40 will render an Oxygen Sensor inoperative. If a rust penetrant is used to remove, or contact prior to
installation is made with the oxygen sensor, discard the sensor.

Oxygen Sensor Location

To replace the Oxygen Sensor, proceed as follows:

Removal:

1.

Disconnect the harness terminal.

2.

Remove the sensor with a suitable socket or wrench.

Installation:

  Oxygen Sensor

3.

Apply a thin coating of anti-seize compound to the threads.
NOTE: Do Not contaminate the sensor tip with compound.

4.

Install the sensor and torque to 29-36 ft.lb.

5.

Apply a thin coating of dielectric compound to the connector.

6.

Connect harness terminal.
