Removal and Installation

SIDE AIR BAG (SATELLITE) SENSOR

Removal and Installation

WARNING:
-

Before servicing, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect battery negative terminal and wait 3 minutes or more.

-

Never use the air tools or the electric tools for servicing.

REMOVAL
1. Remove the front seat belt retractor.  See: Restraint Systems/Seat Belt Systems/Seat Belt Retractor/Service and Repair/Front Seat Belt/Removal

and Installation.

2. Remove the satellite sensor (1) fixing nuts (B).
3. Disconnect the harness connector (A), and then remove the satellite sensor.

CAUTION:
-

Replace the satellite sensor of deployed the SRS front side air bag module and deployed the SRS side curtain air bag module.

Never impact the satellite sensor.

-

Replace the satellite sensor if it has been dropped or sustained an impact.

INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal.

CAUTION:
-

Never use the old fixing nuts after removal, replace with the new nuts.

Never damage the harness while installing.

If malfunction is detected by the air bag warning lamp, after repair or replacement of the malfunctioning parts, reset the memory using
self-diagnosis or CONSULT-III. See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Scan Tool Testing and
Procedures/Diagnosis System (Airbag), "CONSULT-III

 Function".

After the work is completed, check that no system malfunction is detected by air bag warning lamp.
