Clean the glass in the area of the failure(s) with an alcohol wipe. (Figure 4)

Apply the supplied Teflon tape in 60 mm (2.4 in) lengths to either side of the failed element(s). (Figure 4)

The tape should be firmly rubbed on to the glass using a soft cloth (do not touch the glass in the failed area with anything other than a clean
cloth after the area has been cleaned) to remove all air bubbles either side of the element.

NOTE:

Shake the bottle of electrically conductive paint thoroughly. The cap of the bottle holds some paint after shaking and is prone to dripping; to
prevent this, hold a paper towel around the cap and stem to catch drips.

Open the bottle and clean the stem of the brush to prevent drips. (Figure 5)

Apply the first of four coats of paint to the damaged element.

Each coat must be very thin; this is achieved by blotting the brush before applying paint to the glass.

Allow 10 minutes drying time between coat.

Do not operate the rear windshield heater until 45 minutes after the last coat is applied.

NOTE:

All repairs should be visually assessed from inside and outside the vehicle to ensure the masking has not been incorrectly carried out, allowing
excessive conductive paint to be applied; if excessive paint is evident, it can be removed by carefully using a utility knife.

CAUTION:

Extreme care needs to be taken as not to damage glass or break heater elements if this practice is undertaken.

5.

Carefully remove the Teflon tape 10 minutes after the fourth coat has been applied.

CAUTION:

Do not use heavy / abrasive pressure to the rear windshield during cleaning after paint application.

6.

After an additional 35 minutes, clean the rear windshield glass.

VERIFYING HEATER ELEMENT REPAIRS

1.

Attach the heat sensitive paper to the inside surface of the rear windshield (away from the repaired areas). (Figure 2)
