Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Description and Operation
1984-87 CHEROKEE & WAGONEER, 1984-86 CJ & SCRAMBLER, 1986-87 COMANCHE & 1987 WRANGLER
These vehicles use a combination valve which consists of a one piece housing that contains a rear brake proportioning valve section and a pressure
differential valve and switch. The proportioning section of the valve provides balanced front to rear braking action during high pressure pedal stops.
When brakes are applied, the valve modulates hydraulic system pressure to the rear brakes to balance operation and prevent excessive rear brake
action.
The pressure differential valve section activates the brake warning lamp whenever a pressure loss occurs in front or rear brakes.
