Front Axle Steering Stop Adjustment For International Market Goodyear 17" Silent Armor Tire
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing spacers to the steering stops on the left and right steering knuckle.

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles that are sold in International Markets that were built on or before May 10, 2008 (MDH 0510XX), and equipped with
the Goodyear 17 inch Silent Armor Tire (sales code TNA).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a rubbing-like sound during hard cornering, when the steering wheel is turned to its full lock position. This condition may
occur in either direction (full left or full right turn). This condition may be caused by the tire momentarily contacting the stabilizer bar.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle is equipped with the 17 inch Goodyear Silent Armor Tire, inspect the tire inboard surface and the stabilizer bar for evidence of light
contact. If contact is present perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1.
Raise the vehicle on a suitable lift.
2.
From the "OFF" position, turn the ignition switch to the "ON/RUN" position, but do not start the vehicle.
3.
SLOWLY turn the steering wheel to the full right lock position. Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.
4.
Remove the left front wheel steering stop (nut and bolt ) from the left steering knuckle by loosening the bolt. The nut and bolt of the steering stop
are tack welded together. Do not disturb this weld.
5.
Install one spacer (washer) onto the bolt of the steering stop, so that when the steering stop is installed to the knuckle the spacer is against the
knuckle (between the knuckle and steering stop nut).
6.
Install the left steering stop, with spacer, to the left steering knuckle. Tighten the steering stop bolt to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
7.
From the "OFF" position, turn the ignition switch to the "ON/RUN' position, but do not start the vehicle.
8.
SLOWLY turn the steering wheel to the full left lock position. Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.
9.
Repeat steps 4, 5, and 6 to the right front wheel steering stop.
10.
SLOWLY return the steering wheel and tire/wheels to the center / straight ahead position.
11.
Lower vehicle.
