Use the procedures provided in this bulletin to inspect and if necessary, replace the Accelerator Pedal Assembly in 1996 Sportage EX models (dealer
inventory, customer vehicles, etc.) produced between March 21, 1996 and July 4, 1996.
SPORTAGE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY INSPECTION/REPLACEMENT PREPARATION:
Confirm that the vehicle is a 1996 Sportage EX model produced within the affected VIN range.
From KNDJA723XT5517038 (March 21, 1996 Production Date) To KNDJA7230T5522832 (July 4, 1996 Production Date)
Review the Inspection and Replacement Procedures provided in this bulletin before attempting Accelerator Pedal Assembly inspection or replacement.
Verify the parts, tools and equipment are available before starting. Inspect all replacement parts for damage prior to installation.

3/8" Drive Ratchet
^
3/8" Drive 10 mm Socket
^
3/8" Drive 6" Extension Needle Nose Pliers
INSPECTION PROCEDURE:
1.
Inspect the Accelerator Pedal Assembly Bracket for a white paint mark in the location shown.

If a white paint mark is not present on the Accelerator Pedal Assembly Bracket, continue on to Replacement Procedures.

If a white paint mark is present on the Accelerator Pedal Assembly Bracket, the campaign has already been completed. DO NOT PERFORM
THE CAMPAIGN AGAIN! Advise the customer that the campaign has been previously performed.
