Engine Shudder During Light-Throttle Acceleration

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation:
The engine may experience one or both of the following:

Engine shudder during light-throttle acceleration at low speed after pulling away from a stop.

Engine shudder during light-throttle tip-in during low speed cruise.

These issues may be caused by the knock sensor calibration being overly sensitive to electrical noise, resulting in false detections.

Action: 
In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to update the Powertrain control module software.

IDS with latest IDS-DVD and Calibration File; first available on IDS-DVD122_V6.04 Calibration File 45 Land Rover-Approved Midtronics Vehicle
Power Supply

REPAIR PROCEDURE

UPDATE THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE

CAUTION:

Ensure all ignition "ON" / ignition "OFF" requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the vehicle.

CAUTION:

A Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS diagnosis / module programming.

1. Connect the Land Rover-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.

2. Turn ignition ON (engine not running).

NOTE:

IDS must be loaded with IDS-DVD122_V6.04 or later and Calibration File 45 or later.
