AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
RANGE ROVER (LP)
Up to 98 MY
SITUATION:
FRONT DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM INSIDE
The interior release cable may disengage from the interior release handle under certain conditions. The front door cannot be opened from the inside
should this occur. Normal operation of the door latch is still possible from outside the vehicle using the outside handle.
RESOLUTION:
INSTALL BUFFER AND CABLE RETENTION CLIP
NOTE:
This information supersedes information found in Operation Pride article 5-02 and TIB H377 (1996).
A series of adjustments and modifications will counteract the forces that cause the interior release cable to disengage from the release handle:
^
A buffer is to be fitted to eliminate interior release over-travel
^
Installation of a revised release cable retention clip will secure the cable end into the interior release handle more effectively.
NOTE:
The repairs outlined in this TIB are to be performed to resolve customer complaint of the symptoms described.
