Remove ABS sensor from hub and remove sensor seal and bush (figure 3).

12.

Remove six bolts and discard, remove hub and half shaft assembly from axle (figure 4).

13.

Using suitable tool, remove oil seal from axle housing.

Inspection

1.

Inspect seal track on axle for surface damage. Replace with new axle if damaged.

2.

Inspect seal locating bore and remove any sharp edges that may damage the new seal.

3.

Check axle breather for proper operation.

Installation

1.

Clean splines and seal mating surfaces.

2.

Lubricate lip of oil seal and install in axle case using tool # LRT-51-006 (figure 5) or tool # LRT-54-012.

3.

Install hub and half shaft assembly to axle case, install new bolts. Tighten to 65 Nm. (48 lbf. ft.).

4.

Clean ABS sensor, bushing and mating surface.
