Inspection
SUSPENSION: FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM (for AWD): INSPECTION
INSPECTION
1. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM
(a) Temporarily install the nut, and flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
(b) Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the fifth turn.
Standard turning torque:
3.0 N*m (30.6 kgf*cm, 26.6 in.*lbf)
If the result is not as specified, replace the front No. 2 suspension lower arm.
(c) Check the dust boot for cracks or grease leakage.
On-Vehicle Inspection
SUSPENSION: FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM (for AWD): ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. INSPECT FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM BALL JOINT RATTLE
(a) Jack up the vehicle.
(b) Move the front No. 2 suspension lower arm up and down by hand, and check for rattle.
OK:
No rattle.
