Removal
JF2A TRANSFER / 4WD / AWD: 4WD CONTROL ECU: REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

w/ Navigation System:

After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of
memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from
the negative (-) battery terminal.

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning.

3. REMOVE INNER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACKET COVER RH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard /

4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal and

5. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard /

6. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and

7. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Knee Airbag Assembly (for Front Passenger Side)/Removal
8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX DOOR KNOB See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service
and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal
9. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument
Panel/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal
10. REMOVE 4WD CONTROL ECU
(a) Disconnect the 2 ECU connectors.
(b) Remove the bolt and ECU.
