Communication Network Diagnosis

Inspection and Verification

1. Verify the customer concern.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of electrical damage. Refer to the following chart:

Electrical

- Fuses
- Damaged wiring harness
- Loose or corroded connectors
- Four-wheel anti-lock brake system (4WABS) module
- Air bag diagnostic monitor
- Generic electronic module (GEM)/Central timer module (CTM)
- Powertrain control module (PCM) Remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module

3. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect NGS Tester to the DLC, located beneath the instrument panel, and select the vehicle to be

tested from NGS Tester menu. If NGS Tester does not communicate with the vehicle:
1. Check that the program card is properly installed.
2. Check the connections to the vehicle. 
3. Check the ignition switch position.

If NGS Tester still does not communicate with the vehicle, see MODULE / NETWORK COMMUNICATION.

4. Go to NO MODULE / NETWORK COMMUNICATION.
