Transfer Case Actuator: Service and Repair
SHIFT MOTOR REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2. Disconnect the harness connector.
3. Remove the two bolts retaining the harness to the transfer case shift motor.
4. Remove the brown wire from the harness to the transfer case shift motor.
5. Remove the rear mounting bolt.
NOTE: Note the position of the triangular shaft extending out of the rear of the case.
6. Remove the remaining front bolt and the transfer case shift motor.
Tightening torque: 8 - 11 Nm (82 - 112 kgf-cm, 71 - 97 inch lbs.)
CAUTION: Use care when cleaning the RTV sealant from the aluminum surfaces, as nicks and gouges can Inhibit sealing.
7. Clean the mating surfaces of the shift motor and the rear case.
CAUTION: The shift motor must be Installed within 15 minutes of the application of silicone, or new sealant must be applied. If possible, allow
one hour before filling with lubricant to make sure the silicone sealant has properly cured.
