Fig. 6  Axle Bearing & Seal Installation

a. Apply clean oil to new bearing and install using driver handle tool No. 49 F027 003 and axle tube seal replacer tool No. 49 H025 001, or

equivalents, Fig. 6.

b. Apply suitable high temperature grease to new seal and install using special tools.

Wheel Bearing Play

Inspection
1. Make sure there is no abnormal noise and that the wheel rotates smoothly by hand.

Adjustment
1. Use a dial indicator to verify that the end play is within specification.

End play

Minimum:  O.127mm {O.005 in}
Maximum:  O.762mm {O.030 in}

2. If the end play is not within specification, replace the C-washer.

 
REAR AXLE INSTALLATION

Rear axle
1. Carefully install the rear axle.
2. Slide the splines into the side gear.
