Air Injection Control Valve: Testing and Inspection

ACV Valve Location

SIGNAL INSPECTION

Voltmeter Connection -- ACV Solenoid Valve

1.

Warm engine to operating temperature and turn ignition "OFF."

2.

Connect water temperature switch connectors with a jumper wire.

3.

Connect voltmeter between ACV solenoid "Y" terminal and ground.

4.

Verify that voltmeter indicates 0V at approximately 1500 rpm or more.

5.

If not, check ECU terminal 2J.

VALVE INSPECTION

Purge Control Soleniod Test -- Voltage Applied

1.

Remove ACV valve.

2.

Connect hose to valve as shown.

3.

Blow through hose "B" and verify air flow from valve filter.

4.

Apply battery power and ground with jumper wire.

5.

Blow through hose "B" and verify air flow from port "A."

6.

Replace valve if it does not operate as described.
