Throttle Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

1.

Warm engine to operating temperature.

2.

Verify that thermowax (air valve) rod extends outward fully and throttle cam is separated from roller.

3.

Turn ignition OFF.

4.

Connect SST (Mazda Engine Signal Monitor) to ECU and set SST to terminal 2F. Switch ignition ON.

5.

Rotate throttle linkage at throttle body by hand and verify that terminal 2F voltage is 0.1 - 1.1V with throttle fully closed and 3.1 - 4.4V with
throttle fully open.

6.

If not as specified, adjust sensor.
