Raise and support vehicle and remove rear steering gear in numerical order, Fig. 7, noting the following:
a. Use tool 490727575 or equivalent to tie rod ends from knuckle.
b. Remove cover and the brake pipe joint block.
c. Remove mounting bolts from right and left subframes and let subframes hang down.
d. To remove solenoid valves, disconnect oil pipes, remove bolts, disconnect electrical connectors and remove solenoid valve assembly.
e. Remove oil filter in numerical order, Fig. 8, and reverse order to install. Clean up and install magnet and set plate.

Check for damaged or cracked case, faulty stepper motor or rear to front steering ratio sensor, sticking bearings or oil leakage, replacing rear
steering gear assembly as necessary. There is no fluid in new replacement steering gear assembly, add .9-1.1 quart of fluid.

Check and tighten volts and nuts as necessary.
4.
Check for cracked, damaged or deteriorated rear steering gear boots and bands, replacing as necessary.
5.
Check for cracked or damaged oil pan, replacing as necessary.
6.
Check solenoid valve operation, replacing as necessary.
7.
Reverse procedure to install, then adjust rear steering angle.
