Fuel Filter: Description and Operation

    The fuel filter traps the impurities contained in the fuel.  The quality of the filter determines the service life of the injection pump.  This means that
impurities in the fuel can endanger the operation of precision machined parts.  Poor filtration can, therefore, lead to damage of the pump plungers,
delivery valves, and injection nozzles.  Fuel filters for the diesel system generally have a pore size of 0.0015 mm.  As the fuel passes the filter the
particles of dirt are trapped in the filter element.  The specified intervals for changing the filter elements should therefore be precisely observed and work
on the fuel injection system should be performed with the utmost cleanliness.
