Voice connection between vehicle and Service Center, general

Regardless of the type of vehicle-related service initiated (e.g. MB Info call), a voice connection is established to the Service Center. After feedback by
the Service Center with a special tone, an SMS is sent to the Service Center with the appropriate data (vehicle identification number (VIN) and vehicle
model, etc.). Then the driver can speak to a service receptionist over the existing voice connection.

Function sequence for voice connection between vehicle and Service Center

The handsfree system microphone (A67b1) is used for voice commands; it is integrated into the inside rearview mirror (A67). The signals from the
handsfree system microphone are routed over a direct line to the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
In the COMAND controller unit, the signals from the handsfree system microphone are only looped through and are forwarded to the communication
module integrated into the emergency call system control unit.

The communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit then transmits the handsfree system microphone signals to the Service
Center. The communication module integrated into the emergency call system control unit transmits and receives the mobile phone signals via the
following route:

Multifunction antenna (A28/11)

Voice output takes place exclusively via the center dashboard speaker (H4/27). This speaker is controlled by the emergency call system control unit over
discrete lines.
In vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the center instrument panel speaker is therefore muted for all other applications (e.g. audio mode) by a mute
signal from the emergency call system control unit sent over a direct line to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3).

The "Mute" signal to the sound system amplifier control unit on vehicles with code (810) Sound system, mutes all audio signals to the following
speakers:

Center dashboard speaker (H4/27)

Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)

-

Right rear surround speaker (H4/55) (with model 212.2)

Right rear surround speaker (H4/57) (with model 212.0)

Left front door sound system tweeter (H4/68)

On the bass speaker (H4/17) (model 212.0) or bass speaker (H4/29) (model 212.2) the mute signal runs to the sound system amplifier control unit and
from there over direct lines via the rear bass speaker amplifier (N40/9) to the bass speaker.

On vehicles without code (810) Sound system, the emergency call system control unit sends a "Mute" signal over a direct line to the COMAND
controller unit, to mute the following speakers:

Left front door speaker (H4/1)

Left front door tweeter (H4/1h1)

Right front door speaker (H4/2)

Right front door tweeter (H4/2h1)

Left rear door speaker (H4/3)

Left rear door tweeter (H4/3h1)

Normally, the voice connection is deactivated by the Service Center or by the driver.

The handsfree system microphone comprises two microphones. However, only one microphone is used for voice input.
