ML 430 (163.172) V8-4.3L (113.942) (2000)
Function
In selector position "D", lateral movements in the "+" or "-" direction are detected by the electronic selector lever module control module (N15/5) via
two contacts; at the push-button (b) and transferred to the ETC control module (N15/3) on the engine compartment bus. The selector lever positions
are determined by the slider position of the potentiometer and transferred to the electronic selector lever module control module (N15/5).
The shift pattern diagram (position display) is illuminated by the LEDs (a) when the low beam is switched on.

Location
The shift detent is integrated into the floor shift.
Task
Fixes the selector lever position "D".
Design
The shift detent consists of:
The locking disc (69) for the R/P lock and shift detent which is rigidly connected to the selector lever
The cam with recess (69d)
A leaf spring (85) bolted onto the body (81)
A metal roller (84) inserted into the leaf spring (85)
Function
When the selector lever is moved away from position "N" to position "D", the roller (84) engages in the recess (69d) via the cam. The selector lever is
locked to prevent longitudinal movement. It can now only be moved away from position *D" by overcoming the force of the leaf spring.
It can still be moved in the transverse direction (touch shift in the "+"and "-"directions).
