WHAT THE DEALER WILL DO:
At no cost to you, your dealer will inspect and modify the emissions control systems on your car's engine. This service is designed to eliminate
unsatisfactory engine performance and to reduce air pollutants.
It is important that you have this service done to assure that your car's engine will pass emissions or smog tests that may be required in your area.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
The time needed to service your car's engine is about one hour. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your car for one full
day.
CALL YOUR DEALER:
Call your dealer without delay. Ask for a service date and ask if parts are in stock at the dealership.
If the dealer does not have the parts in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your car for service. Parts would be expected to arrive within a
week.
When your bring your car to the dealership, present this letter to the dealer service manager. If your misplace this letter, your dealer will still do the
service work free of charge.
CHANGED ADDRESS OR SOLD THE CAR?
If you have, please fill out the enclosed prepaid postcard and mail it.

Emisions Recall 93E39 Summary
RECALL SUMMARY:
This recall provides service for 1986-Model Escort, Lynx and EXP cars not serviced under Emissions Recall 91E17. The service provided under that
recall was temporarily suspended when some of the owners of those cars reported engine driveability problems.
INSPECTION/REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS:
Cars with engines having calibration 6-08A-R25, will require inspection to verify the service provided by Emissions Recall 86E55.
Please refer to Attachment III, for inspection instructions.
All cars will have the service provided by this recall.
EPA/FORD MOTOR COMPANY FIELD VEHICLE AUDIT:
Please be advised that the Environmental Protection Agency has informed us that a sample of cars involved in this and Emissions Recalls 86E55 (where
applicable) will be audited for compliance with the service in those recalls.
ADDITIONAL SERVICE TO EFFECTIVELY COMPLETE REPAIR:
Contact your Service Zone Manager for direction when cars returned for service require additional service to effectively complete the recall repair.
