Driveability Concern Description

Vehicle exhibits a rough idle or stalling condition just after start-up. This symptom occurs intermittently (rarely) and will usually disappear
when the vehicle is restarted from a key "off" position or when the engine speed is increased on acceleration (vehicles built prior to
September 1, 1983).

Vehicles exhibiting idle stalls or decel stalls within first mile of drive after cold start at 30-40~ F with high humidity may be experiencing
carburetor icing.
Service Action/Repair

Secure both cut ends of vacuum hose to ensure access for possible future service requirements.
4.
Perform a 3-mile drive (from a stop, accelerate to 55 mph with light, medium and heavy acceleration) to verify the above concern has been
alleviated.
If drive concern still persists, replace carburetor. Do not reconnect vacuum hose.
Install a Ford Modification Decal denoting engine changes, and changes to quick test (Star) diagnostics.
