DISASSEMBLY
1.
Remove disc pads, then disconnect brake hose from caliper.
2.
Open bleeder screw and drain brake fluid from caliper.
3.
Remove caliper guide bushing and dust boots, Fig. 33.
4.
Pry retaining spring off dust boot, then remove piston.
5.
Remove dust boot and discard, then remove piston seal from caliper and discard.
6.
Remove parking brake mechanism from caliper housing.
ASSEMBLY
Clean caliper, anchor plate and rotor assembly and inspect for signs of brake fluid leakage, excessive wear or damage. The caliper must be inspected for
leakage both in piston boot area and operating shaft seal area. Lightly sand or wire brush any rust or corrosion from caliper and anchor plate sliding
surfaces and inner brake shoe abutment surfaces in anchor plate. Inspect brake shoes for wear. Linings must not be worn to less than 1/8 inch of shoe
