Distributor Cap: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
Used to provide a path for secondary voltage from the coil, to the rotor, to the correct spark plug wire.
OPERATION
High tension secondary voltage from the ignition coil is distributed by the rotor to the towers of the distributor cap in a pre-set sequence, and from
there to the spark plug wires which carry the current to the spark plugs.
