NOTE: When measuring the springs outer diameter, always measure at the outermost point of the coils.
15. The second apply piston return spring outer diameter should measure 25.9 mm (1.020 inch). If the second apply piston return spring is out of
specification, replace the second apply piston return spring.
16. Measure the free length and the outer diameter of the fourth apply piston return spring.
17. The fourth apply piston return spring free length should measure 31.0 mm (1.220 inch). If the fourth apply piston return spring is out of
specification, replace the fourth apply piston return spring.
18. The fourth apply piston return spring outer diameter should measure 21.7 mm (0.354 inch) . If the fourth apply piston return spring is out of
specification, replace the fourth apply piston return spring.
ASSEMBLY
1. Install the D-rings on the second apply piston.
NOTE: Apply transmission fluid to the D-rings prior to installation.
2. Install the 2-4 servo piston, 2-4 servo thrust washer, fourth apply piston return spring, and the 2-4 servo spring retainer onto the second apply
piston.
3. Place the 2-4 servo piston end on a wooden block. Depress the 2-4 servo spring retainer and install the E-ring.
