Torque Converter: Service and Repair
Flushing
Special Tools
1. Using the special tool, clean and flush the torque converter.
2. After flushing, drain the remainder of the solvent.
3. Add 1.9 liters (2 qts.) of Motorcraft MERCON(R) Multi-Purpose (ATF) Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX or equivalent meeting Ford specification
MERCON(R) to the torque converter and agitate by hand.
4. Thoroughly drain the torque converter. MERCON(R) automatic Transmission Fluid is being replaced by MERCON(R) V as a service fluid, as per
TSB 06-14-4.
