Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
Evaporative Emission Purge Solenoid Circuit
DESCRIPTION
The purge control solenoid valve is an electromechanical, vacuum switching valve.
LOCATION
The purge control valve is located on the firewall.
OPERATION
When the ECU senses conditions suitable for purge operation, it supplies the ground circuit to the solenoid. The plunger in the solenoid moves,
connecting the inlet and outlet ports. This allows vacuum to be applied to the purge port of the canister.
