The 1999 Galant, with the exception of the DE model, has available side impact air bags. These air bags are located in the side bolsters of the driver's
and front passenger's seatback. The deployment of these air bags is dependent on the seams in the seatback cover releasing when the air bag deploys.
Therefore, Mitsubishi Motors strongly advises against installing any aftermarket leather seating or other seat covers on vehicles equipped with the side
impact air bags. Any aftermarket covers could impair deployment of the side air bag.

NOTE:

Replacing a side impact air bag after deployment in a collision requires replacement of the seat back assembly. Seat back/side air bag assemblies will
be available from your PDC.
