Background Information
Aftermarket Sunroof Installation
The 1999 Galant has some enhanced safety features. The new body structure has a highly rigid passenger compartment and floor structure that resists
deformation under frontal and side impacts.Part of the side impact resistance enhancement is the addition of a high-strength roof bow. This roof bow is
located in the roof panel of vehicles without factory installed sunroofs in the area where an aftermarket sunroof would be installed. Therefore,Mitsubishi
Motors strongly advises against installing an aftermarket sunroof.Installation of an aftermarket sunroof would require removal or cutting of the roof
reinforcement bow, which would compromise the structural rigidity of the passenger compartment.
The roof bow reinforcement on factory sunroof equipped vehicles is an integral part of the sunroof frame installed in the roof panel.
