REAR LIFTGATE GAS SPRING
PURPOSE
This bulletin contains information about a new stronger rear liftgate gas spring. This new gas spring is being introduced to eliminate a condition where
the gas springs may not allow the rear liftgate to open satisfactorily.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Some affected vehicles may exhibit a condition where the rear liftgate gas springs do not assist in lifting the liftgate quickly enough to the fully-open
position. This condition usually occurs when outside temperatures are cold.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1997-2000 Montero Sport (up to and including VIN - YP042430) equipped with rear wiper
PROCEDURE
Replace BOTH rear liftgate gas springs if a customer complains that the liftgate does not lift up quickly enough when the outside temperature is cold.
