BODY SQUEAK WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS
PURPOSE
A squeak noise may be heard from the lower body area on some affected vehicles when driving on bumpy roads or over railroad tracks at speeds of 10 to
15 mph. This may be due to the shift cable bracket contacting the body. To eliminate the noise, move a section of the sponge insulator under the body to
the bracket as described in this bulletin.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
1997-2005 Montero Sport
PROCEDURE
1.
Raise the vehicle.
2.
Locate the sponge insulator installed on the shift cable.
3.
Use a razor blade to carefully cut 1 inch of the sponge insulator as shown.
