Steel Guide And Plastic Ramp

With the sun roof open, reduce the clearance of the steel guide over the plastic ramp.  A hammer and blunt punch should be used sparingly
with repeated tests per Step 1 (Figure 4).

IMPORTANT

The clearance should be minimized, but do not cause a bind between the roller and guide/ramp.  A small amount of movement is still effective in
reducing the rattle.

Rattle Noise From Shade Panel

The clearance between the sun roof lid finisher and shade retainer brackets has been increased since 5/85 production for Sedans and 10/85 production for
Station Wagons.  Vehicles built prior to the change which exhibit rattle noise should have the retainer brackets replaced as follows.

1.

Remove the sun roof lid and press the open button to move the linkage halfway back.

2.

Rotate the small arms up and slide the sun roof shade forward to provide access to the retainer brackets.

Replace the plastic retainer brackets with improved parts (Figure 5).  The part numbers have not changed.
