Steering Gear: Adjustments
Pinion Preload

1. Perform this driving test on a flat road.

a. Check whether vehicle moves in a straight line when steering wheel is released.
b. Check whether steering wheel returns to neutral position when steering wheel is released from a slightly turned (approximately 20°) position.

2. If any abnormality is found, correct it by resetting adjusting screw and tighten lock nut to 49 - 69 Nm (36 - 51 ft. lbs.).
