Remove the bolts that secure the parking brake cables to the lower locating arms.

Disconnect the brake tubes from the wheel cylinders.

6.

Remove the wheel cylinder brake rubber bleeder screw caps and clean them of any foreign debris. Use the cap from the bleeder screw to cap the
brake tubes. Cap P/N 41129-60R00.

7.

Remove the nuts that secure the rear axle backing plates onto the rear axle housing.

8.

Disconnect the propeller shaft from the differential carrier.

9.

Remove the nuts that secure the differential carrier to the axle housing.

10.

Slide the rear axles a few inches out of the rear axle housing.

11.

Remove the differential carrier and gasket. If the differential is not replaced immediately, then slide the axles into the differential housing until the
differential is replaced. This will ensure that the rear axle seals are not damaged by the weight of the axles.

12.

Using shop rags, thoroughly clean the bottom of the differential housing of any remaining differential oil to remove any contamination that may
have been created by the noisy differential.

13.

Carefully clean the drain plug and the threads of any metal particles. Reinstall the drain plug into the differential housing.

14.

Verify the number of teeth, the type (Limited Slip or Non Limited Slip) and the ID mark of the new differential carrier exactly matches the original
removed unit. Use the charts below to verity that the correct unit is being installed. The illustration shows the location of the ID code for the
differential.

The ID mark is stamped in white paint on the top of the differential carrier (see Figure 37).
